Project GREEN : Cutting Home Energy Usage and Improving Comfort on a Budget You Can Afford
Susan Rose – Alderman for 3rd Ward, Elmhurst Susan J. Rose, PhD has served as Alderman from the 3rd Ward for the past 19 years. She chaired the Public Affairs and Safety Committee as well as the Development, Planning & Zoning Committee. Dr. Rose was instrumental in the development and passage of the City's current Sustainability Policy and is committed to encouraging sustainable practices at both the City and individual family levels. She is an Associate Professor and Research Scientist affiliated with the Center for Addiction and Behavioral Research at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee where she has been since 1992. She has extensive clinical experience in community mental health and family based service systems.
Laura Reedy Stukel – EcoBroker Certified Real Estate agent A "cool citizen," Laura is co-chair of Project GREEN. She is a consultant and speaker on home energy efficiency topics and was recently named to the National Board of Directors of the Efficiency First Home Performance Resource Center. The retrofit remodel of her Elmhurst home was featured in the August, 2009 issue of Better Homes & Gardens magazine. Sue Williams — GREEN certified realtor Sue is also co-chair of Project GREEN and a member of the League of Women Voters supporting Elmhurst Cool Cities Coalition.
Lindy Wordlaw – AICP, senior planner at CNT Energy, a division of the Center for Neighborhood Technology Lindy is a certified planner with over eleven years of planning experience in the state of Illinois. Much of her work at CNT is geared toward integrating the goal of sustainable energy use into mainstream planning processes. She is the project lead for the Chicago Climate Action Report, of which the Elmhurst Energy & Emissions Profile is a part.

Jim Patchett - Founder and President of Conservation Design Forum, Inc. located in Elmhurst, IL Jim is widely recognized as one of the nation’s leading pioneers in the design and promotion of sustainable site planning methodologies that integrate innovative water resource management and ecological restoration measures into built environments. Trained both as a landscape architect and hydrologist, Jim has served on a variety of national technical advisory committees including the ASLA Sustainable Sites initiative and is a highly sought out speaker and educator on the subject. Jim is also co-founder of Conservation Research Institute.
Goin' Green Art Workshop: Create a Windsock Missy Pittman – Splatters Create & Party co-owner With her sister, Lynn (Herter) Driver, they opened the doors to Splatters on May 1, 2009. Splatters specializes in children's creative art birthday parties, workshops & art lessons for kids of all ages, and offers a Goin' Green Art Workshop in which the kids can create artwork out of recyclable materials such as bottles, egg cartons, boxes, caps etc.
Earth Day Every Day Anna Stange Anna is a former elementary school teacher and has been teaching music classes in the Chicago area since 1994. She performs at schools, libraries & community events throughout the country. Home Performance: A Systems Approach Jeff Sommer – Member of the Illinois Association of Energy Raters He is a BPI certified Building Analyst and holds a degree in Environmental Science from Oregon State University. He has worked with the Department of Natural Resources, and has a background in home remodeling, finance, and equipment leasing. This diverse background provides him with a unique understanding of increasing home efficiency and the opportunity cost associated with it. Jeff currently resides on the North Shore of Chicago and enjoys spending time with his family.
Rain Barrels & Composting Workshop Deborah L. Scroggins Ms. Scroggins, a Chicago native, has been involved in education about sustainable products for several years. She works with the green housewares store, Green Home Experts, as part of her passion in spreading the word about what sustainability really means - "Green" and not "Green by Madison Avenue." Her experience with products such as composters and rain barrels helps her support homeowners to create more sustainability in their yards and gardens too.
Bike Maintenance Workshop Matt Poole – Athletics and Environmental Program Manager with the lmhurst Park District Matt is a member of the City of Elmhurst's Bike Task Force. He has a Master's degree from George Williams College in Recreation Administration and is an LCI, League of American Bicyclists Certified Instructor.
Nature Walk in Wilder Park Karen Ritter – Environmental educator Karen is owner of "Karen's Nature Tales." She conducts programs about nature for children at schools, libraries, preschools, and other locations around the Chicago area. Karen is an Elmhurst resident.
Permaculture: Creative Sustainability Ron Nowicki – Landscape architect Ron and his wife, Vickie, of Liberty Gardens, have been practicing permaculturalists for more than 30 years. Their home in Downers Grove was built with many natural and renewable materials to keep it cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Plus, they grow all their own food. Ron is a certified landscape architect and runs the Land Office.
